Structures for the places solar is going
Solar is moving across warehouses, fields, car parks and increasingly varied landscapes. Each setting asks something different of the structure carrying the modules.
Schletter’s strength is the breadth of engineering it brings to that task. Its portfolio reaches from roof attachments and module rails to large ground-mounted systems and trackers, supported by project planning and a long manufacturing history.
For buyers who need to understand how an array meets the site beneath it, the structure deserves this level of attention.
The site is part of the specification
A module may be selected before the project team has settled how it will stand on the ground. Yet terrain, foundations and structural loading can influence the cost and sequence of construction just as directly as the generating equipment.
Schletter’s manufacturing roots date to 1968, and the business joined Enstall following completion of its acquisition. Its range brings roof and ground-mounted engineering into the same portfolio, giving project teams several ways to respond to the site.
The useful question is how the structure contributes to a buildable project: what it requires beneath the surface, how it accommodates the modules and how the parts can be delivered and assembled.
Explore the mounting portfolio
Roof systems and Pro components
Schletter’s roof portfolio includes attachments, rails and clamps for a variety of building conditions. Its product library helps identify the components behind a calculated design. On a commercial roof, the mounting package also has to respect the building’s loading, access and maintenance requirements.
FixGrid Pro for flat roofs
FixGrid Pro offers different module orientations and elevated arrangements, including support options for green roofs. This gives planners several ways to develop a layout around the roof’s purpose and constraints. The choice of geometry belongs alongside ballast, roof protection and the finished installation’s access routes.
FS Uno and FS Duo for ground-mounted arrays
Schletter’s fixed-tilt portfolio includes the single-post FS Uno and two-post FS Duo, alongside systems using concrete foundations. That breadth matters where ground conditions influence the foundation method, or where terrain changes the balance between earthworks and structural design.
The result is a project-specific material schedule. Site investigation, module choice and the agreed layout give that schedule its meaning.
Tracking and specialist applications
Schletter also develops tracking systems and agricultural PV structures. These bring further considerations into the project: movement, clearance, operating access and the use of the land around the array. The structure becomes part of how the site will work throughout its life.
Bring the interfaces into one conversation
A large array can draw on several specialist packages: foundations, mounting steelwork, modules, electrical equipment and site logistics. Their boundaries are where procurement needs particular care. The module dimensions inform the structure. The foundation design informs the site works. The construction sequence informs which material must arrive first.
BMG can help bring these requirements into a coordinated supply enquiry, working with the agreed design and connecting the relevant manufacturer or specialist input where custom mounting is needed. We can investigate the structural package alongside modules, inverters and balance-of-system equipment, then develop purchasing and delivery stages around the build.
For a project covering several installation areas, that may mean organising deliveries by construction phase and material type. The aim is practical: give the site team the equipment it can use next, with the rest of the programme already considered.
Warranty and support
Schletter advertises 25-year warranty cover for its roof systems. Ground-mounted and tracking packages carry the terms agreed for the supplied system.
Keep the structural design, material schedule and installation evidence together. For equipment bought through BMG, these records let us connect a component enquiry with the original supply and the appropriate manufacturer support. They also provide a useful basis for discussing an extension or alteration with the project’s engineering team.
